How to Track Casino Winnings and Losses

A casino win and loss log answers a simple question: how much money did you put into play, and how much came back? Record losing and break-even visits as carefully as winning ones. A memorable payout is not the same as your net result.

Record money in and money out

  • Buy-in: the total money added to the session, including reloads.
  • Cash-out: the final amount redeemed or received back.
  • Net profit/loss: cash-out minus total buy-in.
  • Context: date, game, location, currency, duration and optional notes.

Do not total winning bets and call that profit: the money used for those bets and any losing bets also matters. Session totals give you a simpler financial record.

Example: include a Blackjack reload

In this illustrative record, you buy in for 200, add another 100 and cash out 240. The total buy-in is 300, so the result is 240 − 300 = −60. Recording only the original 200 would incorrectly show a gain of 40.

Example: a Baccarat cash-out

A separate illustrative Baccarat session has a buy-in of 500 and a final cash-out of 530 after commission is settled. Its result is +30. Enter the actual amount received; do not subtract a commission again if it is already reflected in your cash-out.

Add sessions together in the same currency

The Blackjack loss of 60 and Baccarat profit of 30 combine to a loss of 30. Keep different currencies separate when reviewing totals. A percentage of winning sessions does not tell you the net result: several small wins may be outweighed by one larger loss.

Choose a record you can maintain

A notebook works offline. A spreadsheet can calculate totals with formulas. FromFish lets you record session amounts and review your history and dashboard charts. It does not automatically import your casino transactions: your totals depend on the records you enter.

Log each visit soon after cashing out, check reloads against your receipts and separate different games. Use notes to distinguish session results from travel, meals or other spending that is not included in your buy-in and cash-out.

Recorded results describe past play. They do not predict future winnings or show that a casino strategy has become profitable.
